no end to the adventures

We took the ferry from Berneray to the Isle of Skye, where we spent a few days in the capital Portree (population: 2491.)

From the pastel painted houses along the harbor, to the tiny square in the center of town, Portree is  picturesque straight-off-a-postcard lovely.

We walked, and shopped, and ate, and laughed. We laughed a lot. (Shopped plenty, too!)

View of the harbor, from the hostel kitchen.

Every time we passed this restaurant I chuckled. Every time.

You can only buy this delicious perfume on Skye, or pay the Queen's ransom in shipping to have it posted.  Did I purchase a bottle there, while I was standing in The Tartan Company, inhaling and moaning? No. Of course not. Is it worth the postage to order it online? Oh yes. Definitely yes.

Too soon it was time to leave. The route across "The Misty Isle" to Edinburgh was breathtaking.

I know - so beautiful, it's hard to believe it's real!

“We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure.
There is no end to the adventures we can have
if only we seek them with our eyes open.”
–Jawaharial Nehru

Ahead - final stop: Edinburgh.
